Time to get a blog up for everyone who has inquired and wanted to know how my father is. We had to keep it quite to keep the surprise for them! After dropping off charter guests on Tuesday Bazza and I were on a 330 flight over to San Juan on Cape Air. THe first time I have ever flown on one of those tiny little planes over to SJU. I did ask Bazza if it was safe! Not used to the pilot having to hold the window open so we could get some air in there! Worked out fine though and I snapped a couple pictures on the flight.
This is looking down at Mainsail Resort on Scrub Island...

And Guana Island

Basically San Juan consisted of picking up take out food at McDonalds at the airport and spending the night in bed at the Best West Hotel there. It worked out well, and I would do it again. Spent about two hours on the phone with Apple and ATT to finally get my new IPHONE set up, and gloried in the fast connection speeds I then had! We had a 915 flight from San Juan to Dallas and then onto Seattle. We bought the instant upgrade tickets so we were in Business or First Class, but the service in these classes is really quite pathetic on AA now. We mostly get it so I can FIT in the seats and even then.....
The second plane from Dallas to Seattle was actually very small and I can only imagine how small the seats were in economy as the ones in First were pathetic. It was somewhat mitigated by the fact that that flight had internet service on it so I was able to do some work!
My sister met up with us in Seattle, and by the skin of everyone's teeth, we managed to get the 530 flight over to victoria as opposed to having to wait for the 1145 PM flight. This is my sister Sydney..She basically had to sprint across the airport to make the gate...

We picked up a car at Victoria Airport (90.00 some dollars a day without insurance??) Holy ! And yes, our parents were surprised as can be to see us show up at the door, and thrilled!

Dad is out of the hospital and somewhat feeling better, they did not find anything on the scans, so it is not pancreatic cancer, but he is still on pain pills and dealing with trying to not eat too much at all to allow it to continue healing. We were glad to be here, although it was an epic planning trip to get over here.
We had rented a hotel room down the road from my parents that night, not knowing what time we would make it in and as we walked up to the Travelodge that had red and green tiles, the mildewy smell of the 70's, and the noise of a live (bad) singer wafting out from inside the bar, and some guys in ball caps smoking outside my sister and I looked at each other and all we could think was "flashback"
We looked around for our pitcher of beer as we could have been in any little hotel bar (dive) in the 70's, mostly in little town in Alberta! What a memory!
We also had stopped at Safeway to get a couple things asking each other on the way in if they sold wine etc in Safeway here...We found out nope, we had to go to a liquor store. We found one and just about fell on the floor with the prices! (how do you guys afford to drink up here? There must be less alcoholism!)
THen we did what any good Canadian does when they go back to Canada, opt to go to Tim Horton's for donuts.
A trip was made out to the storage yard to pick up our baby, the Lion, (ess) I believe I cried when I saw it I love it so much!

It came home, even if we are only here less then a week I AM SLEEPING IN IT!!!

My parents and sister...

Then it was back for a wonderful afternoon nap, a trip out to Swiss Chalet for another Canadian must, chicken dinner and then taking the car we rented back to the airport, since we will just use the parent's while here. My parents cuddled in the back seat.

Great to see them, and todays trip is to Costco...
Thanks everyone for all the thoughts and emails, I hope this helps to keep everyone up to date and I will respond as I have time.
