muskmelon bay
Definitely in our top five anchorages in the British Virgin Islands. There are some fishermen protected areas in Muskmelon, and in close, really only two places to anchor that you are on sand. All the rest is healthy coral until quite deep. Our preferred anchoring mark is 18. 29. 025 and 064.34.781. If you drop your anchor at that spot you cannot go wrong. We often, when conditions permit, tie our stern to a rock there as well.
Muskmelon can keep you content for many hours. Nice flat water, except when a swell is up, top notch diving and snorkeling, pelicans, frigates and booby birds circling around and fishing by the hundreds, a sunset view to die for, and away from all the crowds. Up on the northwest corner of the bay there is a platform which has steps going up to the top of the hill where you can watch the sunset and then you can follow a trail all the way along to Crab cove by the anchorage.
Muskmelon is one anchorage where we often have very good fishing and tarpon hanging out by the hundreds in the shallows.
