Many charter guests will be familiar with Marco and Robin, who have recently brought Takapuna into charter for the first time, with an eager owner. I first met Marco and Robin at a STCW course I was taking in St Thomas quite a few years ago. Although Marco was born in Finland, he came via Canada, where Robin first started sailing with him. They have worked several charter yachts down in the BVI including Can Can, Texas Star and recently spent the last year of a 5 year round the world expedition that took in 27 countries around the Mediterranean.

Takapuna intends to be one of the few large monuhulls on the luxurious side, that will base in the Caribbean year round. If you are looking to move onto a monuhull, but are not sure about the stability, this yacht is very wide and very stable, with very little heeling.

They intend on running with a crew of 5 to 6, and with only 8 guests, I am guessing you will not have to lift a finger if you do not want to! The yacht is fully air conditioned and indeed is powered by two 50 KW generators, so power should never be a problem.

Takapuna CAN pick up on the US Virgin Islands side, which is a bonus if you have 8 guests. 3 of the cabins convert very easily to either twins or queens.
